Powerwomen

We need more women in the fight against climate change.

Powerwomen is building a database of leading women in climate change and energy.

Female participation in the energy sector is significantly below that of the broader economy. These figures are particularly low at the senior level, where women make up just 4% of energy and 3% of utility boards. These trends are the same in the climate sector, where women are largely underrepresented in decision-making or are not represented at all.

We believe that the climate crisis cannot be addressed without female leadership.

Our goal is to promote a suite of diverse, qualified women prepared for political appointments and other senior positions in climate and clean energy.

Powerwomen is compiling a targeted database of women from the climate and clean energy fields who are ready to serve in professional leadership roles.

Please nominate yourself or a leading woman you know using the button below. All female-identifying people are welcome and encouraged to submit.

Future Areas of Nomination

In the future, Powerwomen will collect names for broader political appointments, board roles, and senior executive roles.

When we don’t include women leaders, we’re leaving out half the planet, right? Let’s just be reasonable: If we want to win, we should include everyone, and everyone includes women.
— Ayana Elizabeth Johnson

Including women in climate policy and solutions can enhance the results, leading to more economic growth and sustainable outcomes. However, we cannot take for granted that gender equality and women’s empowerment in the field of climate change and sustainable development will happen automatically.
— Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary, UNFCCC

We can’t find the answers we need without women involved, period.
— Lisa Jackson
